Myra Girón - Jordan | Founding Member

Myra Girón - Jordan is a seasoned commercial lending professional with a distinguished career spanning over 20 years, during which she has actively contributed to the success of financial institutions that share her passion to support the underserved in reaching their financial dreams.

Myra’s Personal History

A native New Mexican, Myra is a Latina professional who became the first person in her family to graduate from high school. She went on to graduate from the University of New Mexico’s Anderson School of Management with a Bachelors in Finance, and later obtained her MBA from the University of North Carolina’s Bryan School of Management. She started her career as a real estate market analyst at CBRE in Albuquerque, NM, where she was positioned to step into an agent role on the Real Estate Investment team. While analyzing the real estate market, however, it became clear to her in late 2006 that the real estate market was heading towards a significant downward shift. She transitioned to a community bank as a credit analyst, focusing on C&I and CRE lending. In that position, she supported the CCO’s loan portfolio, was an attendee and active of ALCO and Board Meetings, and provided credit analysis to other lenders on the team.

The Great Recession that came shortly after Myra transitioned resulted in the FDIC issuing a Memorandum of Understanding to the institution, and heavy oversight for the four years she was employed there. This exposure provided her with unique insight into a financial institution’s performance, including the cause and effects of lending decisions, and impacts on its borrowers, to name a few.

This is what sparked her passion to empower small businesses with the tools needed to succeed in the game that isn’t defined with them in mind. She began volunteering her time with Community Development Financial Institutions, where she found a shared mission. She has since invested her time in volunteering, working for and consulting with community banks, CDC’s, CDFI’s, and real estate brokerage firms.

She also found the importance in keeping up with software technology along the way. She found herself in many roles as a “translator” between financial institutions and software companies during software changes, due to her personal interest self-learnings of software languages, coupled with her understanding of the loan lifecycle. She has formal education in undergraduate and graduate level software technology such as UNC’s Database Systems Management, CNM’s C++ Programming, and UNC’s Organizing Data for Analytics. She used this and her small business lending knowledge to facilitate software implementations on behalf of lending institutions. She also performed UI/UX design and architected a lending software for a software development company.
